Cozy Mystery #3 is available now!
Spring is in the air in friendly Sparrow Falls, North Carolina. The Official Ladies Garden Club is busy tending a tulip bed that will greet visitors at the entrance of the small southern town. Romance is in the air, in the form of a handsome dark eyed stranger who seems like a hero straight out of a paperback novel. And mystery fills the atmosphere, as pervasive as the overwhelming fragrance of magnolia blossoms. Even Tilda MacArdan, spry senior citizen sleuth, is seeing double, certain that she alone has spotted the long-lost identical twins who will inherit upon the impending death of rascally old millionaire Lachlan McGrady.

Announcing a new four-star author!
The Underhanded Stitch (Quilters Club Mysteries) by Marjory Sorrell Rockwell
Categories: Four Stars, Cozy Lite, Crafty Cozy
Genteel readers everywhere will be delighted with the discovery of a new four-star writer whose books contain NO bad language/yukky crime scenes at all. In fact, the mystery doesn’t even involve a murder or violence of any kind, and it’s a good read to boot! In the first e-book of the series, a valuable family heirloom missing for generations is rumored to be buried under the old town hall in Caruthers Corners, a little place famous for its Watermelon Festival. Four spunky senior members of the local quilting club, plus one adorable granddaughter, set out to find the heirloom and answer the age-old questions once and for all. Questions like: just who owns this here jewel, anyway? And where has it been hidden all these years? And who took it? And who can lay claim to it now as the rightful heir? And how are the sleuths ever going to prove it? The story is lighthearted, and so the genteel reader must enact a wee bit of suspension of disbelief in some places – such as the freehanded way four spunky ladies are allowed to interview suspects and investigate crimes, and the way they eventually, uh, “retrieve” the stolen property. This is not a criticism of the story at all, simply a friendly reminder that we’re not reading a police procedural here. It is, however, a fun, whimsical mystery that most cozy readers will enjoy, and can comfortably share with their children and grandchildren who are in the Nancy Drew stage of reading mysteries. The subject of quilting comes up often but not in a way that is difficult for non-quilters (like myself) to follow. I rather enjoyed reading about the skills of the quilters, and their collective skills also played an important part in solving the mystery.
